79: Nix Bros, Laugh Track, and Denver Dares Edition

Evan and Adam Nix of Nix Bros FilmsThe Nix Brothers, Denver’s funniest (and tallest) film auteurs, join Ron, Joel and Vanessa in the studio this week to discuss a few of their daring comedy projects: Laugh Track Comedy Festival, The Grawlix, and the fake German band Total Ghost.

We discuss evil smart meters, Trader Joe’s zoning, Ted Turner’s unwanted buffalo, Denver Seitan Company’s seized vegan goodies, Mrs. Zuckerberg’s dress, lying lesbians, and sabotaging squirrels.

Then we turn our attention to Visit Denver‘s new “Truth or Dare Denver” campaign and its gorgeous-but-tame Denver Dares smartphone app. We share a few of our own real Denver Dares and several of our favorites from the #DenverDares hashtag on Twitter.

SPECIAL NOTE: Thank you Denver for playing with us on Twitter; it’s been a blast! Due to the overwhelming response to our hashtag hijack, Visit Denver has asked to be on the podcast next week to confront us on our shenanigans. So keep those tweets coming!

BONUS: Here’s the full video of “The Eradicaster,” a NixBros short film about podcasting (starring Andrew Orvedahl, Ben Roy and Adam Cayton-Holland of The Grawlix)
