Denver Post’s Underground Music Showcase later this month happens to be on my birthday. So, I decided to bring on the one who birthed me to listen to some songs from UMS bands that recently released albums. We listen to Wheelchair Sports Camp, Chimney Choir, Colfax Speed Queens, and The Raven and the Writing Desk to get Mom’s thoughts. I second guess this decision, and Mom compares Chimney Choir’s “I-25” to The Cowsills, a 1969 band I had never heard of, seen here on The Johnny Cash Show.
We’re still on a reduced summer schedule, so we’ll have a new episode out in two weeks. ‘Till then, check out the new badass South Broadway Illegal Pete’s. Best location yet, probably. They’re having a debut party with free beer, parkour and, of course, bands.
