Okay, asshole.
As the year draws to a close, it’s time for the Denver Diatribe to reflect on the past 12 months and call out Colorado’s biggest asshole.
But, dear listeners, before we bestow the title in next week’s podcast, we need your help. Tell us: Whom should be the 2012 Asshole of the Year?
You see, our beautiful rectangular state has many fine, decent people whom act selflessly and capably everyday. Then there are the A-holes. Whether out of stupidity, weakness, greed, hate, callous self-interest, ideological fanaticism or political expediency, these are the individuals who displayed extraordinary dickishness in 2012.
We’ve had many nominations — including Tom Martino, Gov. John Hickenlooper, Peyton Manning, the Waldo Canyon Fire, Douglas Bruce, Michael Browne and the CU students who fed pot brownies to their unknowing classmates — but we’ve listed our finalists, the best of the worst, in the poll below.

Mayor Hancock should win because he opposed the Marijuana legalization that an overwhelming majority favored, he appointed a CIO against the recommendation of his own nominating committee who quit a few months later, ignored City worker’s complaints, and raised taxes with practically no promises for how they would be used. He also brought in a Police Chief from Kentucky, passing over very qualified internal candidates.
