This week, Vanessa and Joel talk with the founders of Boulder Startup Week about their upcoming events, as well as the implosion of the Colorado General Assembly and the ax that’s falling on The Onion’s Denver/Boulder edition of The A.V. Club.
Ef Rodriguez (@pug) and Ryan Wanger (@ryanwanger) give us the lowdown on Boulder Startup Week ahead of its Wednesday, May 16 kickoff, and Vanessa shamelessly pimps Joel’s scheduled Humor Code appearance during the BSW festivities.
We put our pom-poms down for a few minutes to talk about the scarcity of engineering/programming talent, Denver’s tech scene, and how state House Speaker Frank McNulty screwed, among other important legislation, a few startup-related bills in his contemptible effort to defeat civil unions this week. (Guess who’s the new leading contender for the Diatribe’s Asshole of the Year 2012 award?)
We also collectively hate on the horseshit news that the Denver/Boulder A.V. Club will shutter in June, before Ef makes the case for multiple Avengers viewings during our regular Love + Hate roundtable.
